Statement of Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez on the Appointment of Reverend Monsignor Larry Kulick as the New Bishop of Greensburg

I was filled with great joy this morning to learn that the Holy Father has appointed Monsignor Larry Kulick, a native of Western Pennsylvania, as the 6th Bishop of the Diocese of Greensburg. I’m confident that he will carry on the work of his predecessors with compassion, joy, and fidelity.

Monsignor Kulick’s wide ranging pastoral and administrative experience as a parish priest, canon lawyer, Vicar General, and Diocesan Administrator for the Diocese of Greensburg will serve him well in the office of bishop. The Holy Father has given a true gift to all those Bishop-elect Kulick will shepherd. I eagerly look forward to presiding over his episcopal ordination and consecrating him a bishop on February 11th at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg.

In the name of the priests, deacons, consecrated religious, and lay faithful of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, I extend heartfelt congratulations and prayerful best wishes to Bishop-elect Kulick as he prepares to begin his episcopal ministry.

I ask that all people of good will join me in praying that the Holy Spirit will strengthen him as a successor to the Apostles and that God may continue to bless him abundantly.

Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez
Archbishop of Philadelphia
