Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary to Host 2024 Cardinals’ Forum
Topic: “The Pastoral Impact of Artificial Intelligence”
Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary will host the Annual Cardinals’ Forum on Monday, September 9 at the Seminary’s new campus in Lower Gwynedd.
This year’s discussion theme, “The Pastoral Impact of Artificial Intelligence,” will consider how artificial intelligence may be placed at the service of humanity as the world rushes into a future powered by promises of faster, better, and more.

Seminary faculty will offer thoughts on this topic and engage the audience in discussion. The event is open to the public free of charge and will be livestreamed via https://vimeo.com/event/234747 and https://www.facebook.com/StCharlesSem.
Monsignor Michael Magee, Vice President for Academic Affairs, will moderate the forum. Panelists include Dr. John Haas, the Cardinal Krol Chair of Moral Theology; Reverend Thomas Dailey, OSFS, the Cardinal Foley Chair of Homiletics & Social Communications; and Dr. Nathan Knutson, the Lucille Francesco Chair in Sacred Music. The Most Reverend Keith Chylinski, Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia and Rector of Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, will introduce the event.
The annual series was named for the first endowed professorships at the Seminary. Its purpose is to advance the academic formation of Seminary students and provide continuing education for the lay faithful about topics of contemporary concern in the Church. Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary was founded as the Roman Catholic seminary for the Diocese of Philadelphia in 1832, making it the oldest Catholic institution of higher learning in the state of Pennsylvania. As of August 2024, the Seminary has an overall enrollment of 140 seminarians, 71 of which study for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. There are 23 new seminarians enrolled this fall, marking the first incoming class at the new campus. Thanks to the prayers and generosity of many people, the seminary has been able to continue its mission of forming future priests continuously for the last 193 years, both for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and many other dioceses and religious orders throughout the country and around the world.
