Pope John Paul II High School to Hold 9/11 Memorial Tribute

The Pope John Paul II High School community in Royersford (Montgomery County) will gather for a memorial tribute in conjunction with the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 9/11.  On the steps of the school’s Student Terrace, the service will honor Law Enforcement and First Responders and highlight the dedicated service provided by the men and women whom the community depend on for safety and welfare.  The school’s new president, Mr. Jason Bozzone will greet those in attendance and Father Brian Kean, Campus Minister, will lead the prayer service portion of the tribute.

In addition to the school community, First Responders including the Upper Providence Township Police Department (Chief and Officers), Trappe Fire Company, Trappe Ambulance, Royersford Fire Company as well as Pennsylvania Representative Michael Vereb  (150th Legislative  District) and Pennsylvania Representative Thomas Quigley (146th Legislative District) will attend.

“As we start the new school year, it is only fitting that we honor our local heroes for their service” said Andrew John, a senior and Student Council President.  “It is important to show the respect and admiration they deserve for making our community safe and secure” he added.

During the tribute as Student Council President, Andrew, will offer remarks and the school’s show choir, “The Rhapsodies” will lead the singing of the “Star Spangled Banner” and “God Bless America.”  Additionally, a bagpiper from the Ancient Order of Hibernians will perform a rendition of “Amazing Grace.”

Pope John Paul II High School opened in September, 2010, following the merger of Kennedy-Kenrick and Saint Pius X Catholic High Schools.  It is the Philadelphia area’s first new Catholic high school and school community in 43 years.
