Nutritional Development Services To Hold Annual Blessing Of Summer Meals Program
This year, Nutritional Development Services is once again sponsoring federally funded summer meals for children through the Seamless Summer Option from June 21- August 26.
Nutritional Development Services (NDS), an agency of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, will hold its annual “Blessing of the Summer” in honor of its Summer Meals Program. This program ensures that students 18 years and younger throughout the Greater Philadelphia area have access to free and healthy meals when school is not in session during the summer months.
Reverend Monsignor Daniel J. Sullivan, President of NDS’ Board, will preside over the blessing at Saint Francis de Sales Catholic School in West Philadelphia. Children in kindergarten through eighth grade who participate in Saint Francis de Sales’ summer camp and benefit from the summer meals program will be in attendance.

This year, NDS’ theme is “A Summer of Kindness” to go along with its “Operation Kindness” program. This program provides partnering summer meal sites with activities to encourage children and youth to think and act with kindness.
Saint Francis de Sales is one of over 300 meal sites partnering with NDS to provide healthy meals to children and youth in the summer months. All meals provided by NDS are delivered each day ready to eat with no on site preparation required. Summer meal sites provide breakfast and lunch. All meals meet federal nutrition standards and include servings of grains, proteins, fruits, vegetables, and milk.
