Ms. Nancy Kurtz, Interim Superintendent for Archdiocesan Secondary Schools, to be Recognized by Archbishop Ryan High School with 2022 Spirit of Ryan Award
Ms. Nancy Kurtz, Interim Superintendent for Secondary Schools, will be recognized by Archbishop Ryan High School (ARHS) as a 2022 Spirit of Ryan Award recipient. Ms. Kurtz is a 1988 graduate of ARHS. The ARHS community will acknowledge the Spirit of Ryan award recipients during a Mass and ceremony. Father Louis Monica, ARHS’ Campus Minister, will celebrate Mass.

The Spirit of Ryan Awards are bestowed annually upon individuals who promote the values and traditions of ARHS. Honorees have shown outstanding service to Ryan through work on alumni programs, advisory committees, activities and athletics, and other efforts and advance the mission of ARHS.
Ms. Kurtz has served as Interim Superintendent for Secondary Schools since December 2021. She is a veteran educator with nearly three decades of experience. The vast majority of her career has been spent as a teacher and administrator in Philadelphia area Catholic schools. Since 2018, she has served as the Archdiocesan Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools leading several initiatives aimed at increased academic achievement at all high schools.
Previously, she served as the Assistant Principal for Academic Affairs at ARHS for 17 years. Ms. Kurtz earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education with a Social Studies concentration from Temple University as well as a Master of Education Degree from Scranton University. She also holds appropriate certifications from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the State of New Jersey.
