Mrs. Eileen Vice Named Principal of Cardinal O’Hara High School
The Office of Catholic Education of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (OCE) and Faith in the Future are pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Eileen Vice as Principal of Cardinal O’Hara High School in Springfield (Delaware County) effective July 1, 2015. Mrs. Vice is an alumna of Cardinal O’Hara, Class of 1989.
Mrs. Vice’s appointment follows the March 2015 resignation of Mr. Pete Balzano. Following that announcement Mrs. Kelly Lanza, Cardinal O’Hara’s Assistant Principal for Student Affairs (APSA), assumed the duties of principal on an interim basis. Mrs. Lanza will resume her role as APSA on July 1st.
Dr. Carol Cary, Superintendent of Secondary Schools said, “We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Mrs. Eileen Vice as the new principal of Cardinal O’Hara. With her proven track record as a veteran educator and administrator as well as her direct connection to the O’Hara community, we’re confident she’ll assist Cardinal O’Hara High School in continuing to be a shining example of Catholic education for years to come.”
Cardinal O’Hara High School President, Mr. Tom Fertal said, “Mrs. Vice’s extensive background in data-driven instruction, teacher development and technology integration make her the ideal person to implement O’Hara’s strategic plan for academics. Her commitment to her faith and family, coupled with her status as an O’Hara alumna, give assurance that she will provide stable, ethical and long-term leadership for the school. I look forward to working with Mrs. Vice during this pivotal time in O’Hara’s history.”
Mrs. Vice holds her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with a Minor in Secondary Education from Saint Joseph’s University as well as a Masters of Education Degree and completion of the Administrative Certification program from Cabrini College in Radnor (Delaware County). Since 2004 Mrs. Vice has been with 21st Century Cyber Charter School based in Downingtown (Chester County) most recently, since 2014, as high school principal. From 2000-2007 she was an Adjunct professor in the Department of Professional and Secondary Education at West Chester University. Prior to her time at West Chester she was an Instructor at Computer Learning Centers, Inc. in Plymouth Meeting (Montgomery County).
