REVEREND DANIEL J. MORIARITY

 1934 – 2016

Reverend Daniel J. Moriarity, Retired Resident, Nativity B.V.M. Parish, Philadelphia, died at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, on Wednesday, January 20, 2016.

 Father Moriarity was born on June 2, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Timothy Moriarity and the late Margaret (Dean) Moriarity. Father Moriarity attended Saint Rose of Lima Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Saint Thomas More High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Moriarity was ordained on May 16, 1964, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend John J. Krol. Father Moriarity served as Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Holy Souls Parish, Philadelphia; Saint Gabriel Parish, Norwood; Saint Andrew Parish, Drexel Hill; Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, Philadelphia; Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Warminster; and Nativity B.V.M. Parish, Philadelphia.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Nativity B.V.M. Church, Philadelphia, on Monday, January 25, 2016, at 4:00 PM, followed by a viewing. A parish Mass will be held at 7:00 PM. Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap.  will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Moriarity at Nativity B.V.M. Church, on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend James P. Gorman and Reverend Dennis Z. Fedak.  Father Fedak will be the homilist

Father Moriarity is survived by his cousins, Christina M. Boston, Daniel Graham, and Thomas Graham.  Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
