Martha’s Choice Marketplace to Host Officials from Montgomery County as they Present a $500,000 Check to Local Food Pantries
Montgomery County will present a $500,000 check at Martha’s Choice Marketplace and Community Farm, a ministry of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, to the Montco Anti-Hunger Network, to support food pantries across Montgomery County in their efforts to serve those facing food insecurity and lack of access to nutritious foods.
Wednesday, May 3, 2023
12:00 p.m.
Martha’s Choice Marketplace
353 E Johnson Hwy
Norristown, PA 19401
Kenneth E. Lawrence, Jr., Chair of Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, Amanda Musselman, Executive Director of Montco Anti-Hunger Network, and staff members from Martha’s Choice will be in attendance.
Due to nationwide benefit changes, SNAP households are set to lose a minimum of $95 a month in benefits with a statewide average impact of $181 per household. During this time of increased food costs, even a minor cut in benefits will be difficult for Montgomery County residents who rely on these funds to feed themselves and their families.
The County has seen an increased demand for food pantries, which play a critical role in helping residents who do not have enough to eat.
