George, Deacon Albert J.

Deacon Albert J. George, Permanent Deacon, Saint Richard Parish, Philadelphia, died on Saturday, September 26, 2015, due to complications from pneumonia. He was 66 years old.
Deacon George was the son of the late Albert W. George, and Selma B. George. He was a graduate of Saint John Neumann High School and he also attended Temple University. He was retired from the Boeing Corporation, where he was employed as a photo specialist.
Deacon George was ordained a Permanent Deacon at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia on June 4, 2000, by Most Reverend Robert P. Maginnis. Following ordination, he was assigned to Holy Spirit Parish, Philadelphia, which merged with Saint Richard Parish, Philadelphia, in 2014. In addition, Deacon George served on the Faculty of the Permanent Diaconate Division of Saint Charles Seminary as an instructor of homiletics from July 2003 until June 2014. He was also very active in the charismatic movement.
The reception of the body and viewing will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 9:00 AM at Holy Spirit Church, 1845 Hartranft Street, Philadelphia, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. The principal celebrant will be Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald. Reverend Dennis J. Carbonaro will be the homilist. The Deacon assisting at the Liturgy of the Word will be Deacon James J. Stewart. The Deacon assisting at the altar will be Deacon Salvatore R. Bianco.
Deacon George is survived by his wife of 39 years, the former Geraldine Pinto; his daughter, Danielle; his son, Christian; his brother, William George. In addition to his parents, Deacon George was predeceased by his sister, Edna Abed. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
