The Office for Persons with Disabilities was established in 1991 and strives to proclaim the Gospel to all people through witness and proclamation to foster the full inclusion of people of all abilities into the life of the Church in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The Department serves as a pastoral resource for parishes, institutions, families and individuals in providing access and welcome to persons with disabilities.

The Deaf Apostolate provides pastoral care, sacramental preparation, religious education, and a regular schedule of Masses in American Sign Language with the Catholic community who are deaf or hard of hearing. Fostering faith formation and providing full access into the life of the church are the primary goals of the Apostolate.
