Reverend Martin T. Cioppi, Pastor, Mother of Divine Providence Parish, King of Prussia, died on Monday, June 26, 2023.
Father Cioppi was born on September 28, 1956, in Hatboro, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Joseph N. Cioppi and Patricia Shaddock. Father Cioppi attended Saint John Bosco, Parochial School, Hatboro, and Nativity of Our Lord, Parochial School, Warminster and Council Rock High School, Newtown, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Father Cioppi was ordained on May 16, 1981, at The Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by His Eminence John Cardinal Krol. Father Cioppi served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Cyril Parish, East Lansdowne; and Old Saint Mary’s Parish, Philadelphia. He served on the faculty at Cardinal O’Hara High School, Springfield, and Lansdale Catholic High School, Lansdale. He also served as President at Lansdale Catholic High School, from 1994-2002. He served as Deputy Secretary, Office for Catechetical Formation from 2002-2005. He served as Pastor, Saint John Bosco Parish, Hatboro from 2005-2010. In 2010 he was appointed Pastor, Mother of Divine Providence Parish, King of Prussia.
The Reception of the Body will be held at Mother of Divine Providence Church, King of Prussia, on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 4:00 PM., followed by a viewing. A Parish Mass will be celebrated at 7:00 PM.
Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez will celebrate the Funeral Mass for Father Cioppi at Mother of Divine Providence Church, on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 AM.
Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Monsignor James D. Beisel, Reverend Monsignor Federico A. Britto, Reverend Monsignor Michael T. Matz, Reverend Stephen F. Leva, Reverend Brian M. Kean, Reverend Matthew D. Brody, Reverend Thomas D. O’Donald, Reverend Thomas A. Viviano, and Reverend Fidelis A. Olokunbor. Monsignor Beisel, will be the homilist.
Father Cioppi is survived by his sister Kathy (Anthony) Blandin, brothers, Michael, Peter, and Andrew and many nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Saint John Neumann Cemetery in Chalfont, PA.
