Catholic Charities Appeal Partners with Philadelphia 76ers for Catholic Charities Night
February 4th, 2015The Archdiocese of Philadelphia Catholic Charities Appeal is once again partnering with the Philadelphia 76ers for “Catholic Charities Night” at the Wells Fargo Center. Tickets are on sale now, and prices range from $27 to $42 per ticket. A portion of the proceeds from tickets purchased through a dedicated link will go directly to the appeal.

January 27th, 2015The chairs of the Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development and Committee on Pro-life Activities welcomed the U.S. Supreme Court’s January 23 announcement that it would review the drug protocols of lethal injection executions in the state of Oklahoma. The court will consider whether the procedures violate the U.S. Constitution’s ban on cruel and unusual punishment.

USCCB: Cardinal O’Malley Urges Congress to Support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act
January 21st, 2015Cardinal Seán O’Malley of Boston, chairman of the Committee on Pro-Life Activities of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), urged support for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act when it comes before the U.S. House of Representatives. The bill, H.R. 36, introduced by Representatives Trent Franks (R-AZ) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), proposes a ban on abortions at 20 weeks after fertilization.

Archdiocese of Philadelphia Launches 2015 Catholic Charities Appeal
January 21st, 2015Today, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced the launch of the 2015 Catholic Charities Appeal, the single largest fundraising initiative in the Archdiocese directly supporting local Catholic Charities. Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. is encouraging the faithful within the Archdiocese to support the Appeal by once again setting a $10 million fundraising goal.
