Archdiocese of Philadelphia To Participate in “9 Days For Life,” A National Novena To Preserve The Sanctity Of Life

Nine days of prayer, penance and pilgrimage beginning January 21st.

Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap. has encouraged the clergy and faithful of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to participate in the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) nationwide novena to end abortion and preserve the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death.

January 22, 2017 marks the 44nd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal throughout the United States. Since that decision, more than 60 million children have lost their lives to abortion.

“9 Days for Life” is a novena with different intercessions, brief reflections and suggested acts of reparation that can be received directly each day by email, text message or through a mobile application for smartphones. It allows for a wide variety of ways for people of all ages and circumstances to participate. The novena of prayer also spans the March for Life where thousands of pilgrims from the Archdiocese will travel to Washington, DC, on January 27, 2017.
