Archdiocese of Philadelphia to Observe 107th World Day For Migrants And Refugees
The 107th World Day for Migrants and Refugees will be celebrated worldwide on Sunday, September 26th.
Faithful throughout the Archdiocese of Philadelphia are invited to join together for the celebration of Holy Mass to observe the 107th World Day for Migrants and Refugees.
Most Reverend Edward M. Deliman, Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, will be the principal celebrant.

The Mass will emphasize that the Church serves as a place of safety, refuge, and protection for all. It is offered for the intention of migrants and refugees around the world who have been displaced due to violence or economic hardship in their countries of origin.
Special intentions will also be offered for the people of Afghanistan, who are facing a widespread humanitarian crisis. The Haitian people will also be remembered in a special way as they struggle with substantial loss of life as well as property and infrastructure damage in the wake of an earthquake and Tropical Storm Grace.
The Mass is sponsored by the Office for Cultural Ministries of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in partnership with the Shrine of the Miraculous Medal located in Philadelphia’s Germantown neighborhood.
Since 1914, the Catholic Church has celebrated World Day of Migrants and Refugees as an occasion to express concern for many different vulnerable people on the move, pray for and assist them in their challenges, and increase awareness about the opportunities that migration offers.
This year, Pope Francis has chosen the theme “Towards an ever wider we’” and has called on Catholics throughout the world to create communion within diversity.
