Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez to Celebrate Mass of Thanksgiving for Catholic Education and Mark National Teacher Appreciation Week

Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez will be the principal celebrant and homilist at a Mass of Thanksgiving for Catholic education at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Shrine of Saint Katharine Drexel as part of National Teacher Appreciation Week.

Andrew McLaughlin, Ed.D., Secretary for Elementary Education, and Nancy Kurtz, Interim Superintendent for Secondary Schools, will be present along with several other administrators from the Office of Catholic Education.

Students representing several Archdiocesan parish and regional elementary schools and secondary schools including: Saint Hilary of Poitiers School in Rydal (Montgomery County); Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic School in Levittown (Bucks County); Archbishop Ryan High School in Northeast Philadelphia; Archbishop Wood High School in Warminster (Bucks County); Father Judge High School for Boys in Northeast Philadelphia; Saint Hubert Catholic High School for Girls in the Tacony section of Philadelphia; Saints John Neumann and Maria Goretti Catholic High School in South Philadelphia; Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia; Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School in Drexel Hill (Delaware County); and West Catholic Preparatory High School will also be present.

Cole Welsh, a student from Father Judge High School will Lecture during the Mass. In addition, Matthew DeStefano, a student from Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic School and Olivia Forkin, a student from Saint Hilary of Poitiers School will participate in the Presentation of the Gifts.

The Mass will be streamed live from @ArchbishopPerez and @AOPSschools.

All supporters of Catholic education in addition to parish and regional elementary schools, secondary schools, and schools of special education are encouraged to attend or participate in the Mass via livestream.
