REVEREND JOHN C. WILZ

1938 – 2016

Reverend John C. Wilz, Retired and Resident, Villa Saint Joseph, died on Saturday, May 21, 2016.

Father Wilz was born on June 26, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Aloysius Wilz and the late Helen McDonnell. Father Wilz attended Saint Edward Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Saint Joseph’s Preparatory High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Wilz was ordained on May 16, 1964, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend John J. Krol. Father Wilz served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Katharine of Siena Parish, Wayne and Holy Trinity Parish, Morrisville. He served on the faculty at Roman Catholic High School for Boys, Philadelphia. Father Wilz served as Pastor at Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish, Phoenixville and Saint Catherine of Siena Parish, Horsham. He also served as Chaplain, Motherhouse of the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart, Yardley.

The Reception of the Body will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Morrisville, on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at 9:00 AM, followed by a viewing. Most Reverend John J. McIntyre will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Wilz at Holy Trinity Church, on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Charles McElroy, Reverend John Eckert, and Reverend Monsignor John C. Marine. Father McElroy will be the homilist.
Father Wilz is survived by his sister, Margaret Mary Flynn. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin, New Jersey.
