West Catholic Preparatory High School Girls Basketball Team to Play in PIAA 3A State Championship Game

WCPHS community to hold send off as team departs for Hershey

The West Catholic Preparatory High School (WCPHS) Girls Basketball Team will contend for the first state title in Lady Burr history when they play Mohawk High School from Bessemer (Lawrence County, PA).

The WCPS community will gather to clap the Lady Burrs out of the school building and onto the bus headed for the Giant Center in Hershey (Dauphin County). Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

The game will take place on Thursday, March 25th at 5:00 p.m. and will be televised live on the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) pcntv.com/basketball/.

Last year, the Lady Burrs won the Philadelphia Catholic League Championship and two games in the state playoffs before state championships were cancelled due to COVID-19. The five starting seniors that will take the court for the Lady Burrs were freshman when the team last made an appearance in the state championship game in 2018.

In addition, the Archbishop Ryan High School Boys Basketball Team will play in the PIAA 5A state championship game on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. against Cathedral Preparatory School from Erie, PA.  On Saturday, March 27, 2021, three more Archdiocese of Philadelphia teams will compete for state titles.  The Archbishop Wood High School Girls Basketball Team will face Villa Maria Academy from Erie, PA at 12:00 p.m. in the Girls’ 4A Championship, followed by Cardinal O’Hara High School Girls Basketball Team versus Chartiers Valley High School from Bridgeville, PA at 5:00 p.m. in the Girls’ 5A Championship. The Archbishop Wood High School Boys Basketball Team will play against Reading High School from Reading, PA in the Boys’ 6A Championship at 7:30 p.m.
