Sister Catherine Danielle LeTourneau, I.H.M., Honors Math Teacher at Saint Charles Borromeo Parish School in Bensalem (Bucks County) and Mrs. Caroline Maher, Assistant Principal and Middle School Honors Math Teacher at Our Lady of Mercy Regional Catholic School in Maple Glen (Montgomery County) were among ten educators in the region recognized as All-Star Teachers by the Philadelphia Phillies prior to their game on Friday, May 2. The teachers were celebrated as part of the Phillies 25th annual Teacher Appreciation Night.
Mrs. Molly Quinn, Principal of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish School, nominated Sister Catherine Danielle and an OLM student nominated Mrs. Maher. In addition, to their recognition prior to the game, each teacher received a $1,000 donation to their school.
May 2 was also Catholic Charities Appeal (CCA) Night at the Phillies. CCA is the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s single most important fundraiser, benefiting hundreds of thousands of people through countless organizations and ministries. A portion of the proceeds from tickets sold through a dedicated link directly benefited CCA beneficiary programs that provide support to ministries across the Church of Philadelphia including Special Education; Social Services; Evangelization; and Mission Parishes; as well as Retired and Infirm Priests.
Zachary Plunkett, a fourth-grade student from Our Lady of Confidence School (OLC), in Willow Grove (Montgomery County) threw out the first pitch. OLC is one of three Archdiocesan schools of special education and a beneficiary of CCA.
