Reverend Monsignor Bernard J. Trinity, Pastor Emeritus, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Parish, Southampton, died on Thursday, September 2, 2021.
Monsignor Trinity was born on February 24, 1928, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late James P. Trinity and Catherine Loftus. Monsignor Trinity attended Our Lady of the Rosary Parochial School, Philadelphia and Saint Thomas More High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Monsignor Trinity was ordained on May 8, 1954, at The Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by Most Reverend John F. O’Hara, C.S.C. He was named Honorary Prelate of His Holiness John Paul II on December 18, 1985. Monsignor Trinity served as Parochial Vicar, Mary Queen of Peace Parish, Pottsville; Saint Joseph Parish, Ambler; Saint Christopher Parish, Philadelphia. He was on the Faculty at Cardinal Dougherty High School, and served as a Principal at Archbishop Carroll Girls High School and Cardinal Dougherty High School. In 1981 he was appointed Pastor, Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, Southampton and named Pastor Emeritus in 2003.
Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez, D.D. will celebrate the Funearal Mass for Monsignor Trinity on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 11:30 AM, at Saint Denis Church, Havertown. A viewing will begin at 9:00 AM. The Reception of the Body will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 4:30 PM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Kevin J. Gallagher, Reverend James J. Cardosi, and Reverend G. Dennis Gill will be the homilist.
Monsignor Trinity is survived by his nieces. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken.
