The Faith in the Future Foundation Announces New Chief Executive Officer Irene Horstmann Hannan

(Philadelphia, PA June 19, 2018) — The Board of the Faith in the Future Foundation is pleased to announce the election of Irene Horstmann Hannan as Chief Executive Officer effective August 1, 2018. In this role Irene will report to the Board of the Foundation and its Chairman, H. Edward Hanway.

Irene joins the Foundation after an extensive career in Commercial Banking, most recently as a Senior Vice President with Citizens Bank, where she led a $6.0 billion loan portfolio in the healthcare and nonprofit segment for the Mid-Atlantic and Mid-West regions of Citizens Bank.

Irene is a Philadelphia native, and a graduate of Trinity University, Washington D.C. where she is a Trustee Emeritus. She has been active in a number of educational and philanthropic initiatives including the Mayor’s Commission on Literacy under Mayor Nutter, The Pennsylvania Commission for Women under Governor Rendell, and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Urban League of Philadelphia.

Irene has also served on the Girl Scouts USA Board, the Advisory Board Rosemont College Institute for Ethical Leadership and Social Responsibility, and the Boards of the Vanguard School and the Sacred Heart Academy Bryn Mawr. 

Irene has received numerous awards including the Women’s Leadership Award from the Main Line Chamber of Commerce, The Distinguished Service Award from the Urban League of Philadelphia and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Red Cross.

“Irene’s strong business background, combined with her knowledge and passion for Catholic education make her an ideal Chief Executive for Faith in the Future as we pursue our Mission and seek to strengthen our 17 High Schools and 4 Schools of Special Education,” said H. Edward Hanway, Faith in the Future’s Chairman and acting Chief Executive Officer.
