Seniors from Catholic Health Care Services’ Saint Francis Villa to Celebrate Community Garden

Saint Francis Villa, a ministry of Catholic Health Care Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CHCS), received a “garden grant” from Nutritional Development Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Community Foods Program.

The grant will be used to create an organic garden that will increase access to fresh, wholesome, and nourishing produce for senior residents. To celebrate the garden’s creation, CHCS will host a garden blessing and planting day.

Heather Huot, Manager of Housing Social Services and Operations for CHCS said, “CHCS is grateful to NDS for this grant. The community garden will help bring nutritious produce to the seniors living at Saint Francis Villa and provide an opportunity for residents to work together as they care for the garden.”

Located in East Kensington, Saint Francis Villa is one of four CHCS senior housing communities that allow residents to remain active in their communities while enjoying comfortable, affordable apartment living. Presby’s Inspired Life, a faith based, service-oriented organization committed to creating opportunities for residents to live an enhanced quality of life, manages the properties.

CHCS is a leading provider of senior living services for the Philadelphia region. Dedicated staff are committed to providing the best quality support for seniors and their loved ones through senior programs.
