Reverend John J. Scarcia, Retired, Resident, Eagle Lake, Florida, died on Monday, December 4, 2023.

Father Scarcia was born on August 17, 1948, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Emil Scarcia and Gilda DiBenedetto. Father Scarcia attended Mayfair Elementary
School Philadelphia, Saint Timothy Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Father Judge High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.

Father Scarcia was ordained on May 18, 1974, at The Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by His Eminence John Cardinal Krol. Father Scarcia served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Ignatius Parish, Yardley; Saint Helena Parish, Philadelphia; and Our Lady of Ransom Parish, Philadelphia. He served on the faculty at Saint Pius X High School, Pottstown. He also served as Pastor, Saint Philip Neri Parish, Pennsburg from 1996-2006 when he retired to Florida, due to his health concerns. 

The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Philip Neri Church, Pennsburg, on Wednesday December 13, 2023, at 9:00 AM., followed by a viewing at 9:30 AM. Most
Reverend Edward M. Deliman will celebrate the Funeral Mass for Father Scarcia at Saint Philip Neri Church, on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Thomas Brennan, Reverend Lawrence Crehan, Reverend Stephen Katziner, Reverend Monsignor John Marine, and Reverend Anthony Hangholt, will be the homilist.

Father Scarcia is survived by his Mother, Gilda, and sister Janet. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon, PA.
