Saint John’s Hospice Marks the Successful Completion of Third Annual “Boot Up Philly” Initiative with Giveaway Event

Saint John’s Hospice (SJH), a ministry of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CSS), will host a community giveaway event to mark the successful completion of its third annual “Boot Up Philly” initiative. The event will benefit Philadelphians experiencing homelessness and impacted by poverty.

Saturday, November 4, 2023
10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Archdiocesan Pastoral Center (Parking Lot)
222 North 17th Street
Philadelphia, PA 19103

“Boot Up Philly” raised funds to help purchase 1,000 sets of cold-weather essentials such as coats, footwear, socks, and undergarments for individuals and families experiencing homelessness prior to the upcoming winter season. Since launching the campaign in September, SJH has raised approximately $79,000.

The outdoor event will feature SJH and CSS staff and volunteers distributing footwear, men’s and women’s personal care items, and socks to those in need. In addition, the Philadelphia Region of The Order of Malta will distribute winter coats and the Knights of Columbus will distribute children’s cold-weather essentials. Nutritional Development Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia will also provide snack bags to all those in attendance.

This year’s event sponsors include Independence Blue Cross, Knock Knock Give a Sock, and WSFS Bank.
