The Archdiocese of Philadelphia and Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary are pleased to host the inaugural event in the annual John Cardinal Foley Lecture Series, honoring Cardinal Foley’s work in the media by featuring speakers of national or international renown who are engaged in evangelization through social communications.
Rev. Thomas Dailey, O.S.F.S., holder of the John Cardinal Foley Chair of Homiletics and Social Communications at the Seminary, will speak on the topic of “Beauty, Truth, and Goodness in Person: Evangelization and Social Communications with Pope Francis.”
7:00 p.m.
Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary
100 East Wynnewood Road
Wynnewood, PA 19096
The event will also feature the premiere of a new video about the legacy of John Cardinal Foley. Ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Foley served on the Seminary’s faculty for seventeen years while also working as editor of the Catholic Standard & Times. In 1984, he was called to the Vatican to direct the work of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, which he led for twenty-three years. Cardinal Foley concluded his ecclesial service as Grand Master of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre and returned to Philadelphia, where he died in 2011.
The lecture is open to the public with free admission and will be preceded by a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m.
