A handful of residents from Catholic Housing and Community Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s (CHCS) affordable senior housing communities recently came together to offer virtual advice and words of wisdom to Archdiocese of Philadelphia School (AOPS) students as the new 2020-2021 academic year gets underway.

The short video, titled “From Seniors to Students: Back to School Advice,” features senior residents ranging up to 97 years of age offering students some helpful advice on school and how to navigate these challenging times. The video was shared on the CHCS social media platforms on Facebook @CHCSPhilly and on Twitter at @CHCSPhila as well as the AOPS social media platforms. Ms. Heather Huot, Director of CHCS said, “As students across the five-county region start this unusual school year, the sage advice and encouragement from our seniors is a reminder to all of us that we can persevere through these uncertainties.”

CHCS’ affordable senior housing communities, allow residents to remain active in their communities while enjoying comfortable, stylish apartment living. CHCS’s senior housing communities include Casa Carmen Aponte Apartments (Kensington); Saint John Neumann Place and Saint John Neumann Place II (South Philadelphia); Nativity B.V.M. Place (Port Richmond); and Saint Francis Villa (Kensington).

CHCS will also be adding to its growing portfolio of affordable housing for independent seniors Saint Rita Place in South Philadelphia. Construction is underway and the residence is expected to open in the fall of 2021. CHCS will also add Saint Joseph Place in Collingdale (Delaware County), the first senior housing community developed by CHCS outside the City of Philadelphia.
