Our Lady of Grace Parish in Penndel to Hold Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Columbarium and Two New Roads

Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald, Retired Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, will preside over a prayerful ceremony at Our Lady of Grace Parish Cemetery in Penndel (Bucks County). It will be part of a groundbreaking for construction for its brand-new Saint Ann & Saint Joachim Columbarium, as well as two new roads in the cemetery: Blessed Carlo Acutis Avenue and Saint Bernadette Avenue.  Light refreshments will be offered immediately following.

The Saint Ann and Saint Joachim Columbarium will be located parallel to the Blessed Mother/ Saint Joseph Columbarium. The new columbarium will contain an inner island above which will stand statues of Saints Ann and Joachim. The outer walls will have niches on both sides. The new columbarium will have 468 niches which can each hold two urns.

The two new roads, Blessed Carlo Acutis Avenue and Saint Bernadette Avenue, will provide better access for funerals to the columbaria and the adjacent sections used for burials.

Construction of the Saint Ann & Saint Joachim Columbarium is projected to be completed in November 2024. Presales will begin on Wednesday, July 17. Our Lady of Grace Parish will host two information sessions on Wednesday, July 17 at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. in the St. John Neumann Room of Our Lady of Grace School.

Our Lady of Grace Cemetery was founded in April 1947 by Father Richard Phelan (Pastor). Since then, the cemetery has been serving the catholic community in the Lower Bucks/Northeast Philadelphia region in providing a sacred and serene resting place for the deceased. As of May 31, 202437,888 persons are buried at OLGC. Our Lady of Grace Cemetery celebrates Jesus’ lifesaving passion, death and resurrection. We provide a sacred resting place for our brothers and sisters who await the resurrection of the body.
