Office of Catholic Education to Hold Elementary Finals of Religion Bee

The Office of Catholic Education will host the championship round of the Archdiocesan Elementary School Religion Bee.

Ten students attending parish and regional elementary schools throughout the five-county region will compete following their progression through local and regional religion bees.

The competition will be streamed live on the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Schools’ Facebook Page @AOPSschools.

Religion Bees were held at 56 parish and regional Catholic elementary schools and private Catholic elementary schools throughout the five-county region. Students in grades five through eight were eligible to participate. 

Two preliminary rounds featured competition among 56 students. The first round was held on Wednesday, February 15 at Archbishop Ryan High School (ARHS) in Northeast section Philadelphia. The second round was held on Thursday, February 16 at Cardinal O’Hara High School (COHS) in Springfield (Delaware County).

The final round will include five students who participated in the Religion Bee held at ARHS and five students who participated in the Religion Bee held at COHS.

The finalists competing for the championship include:

  • Abigail Sullivan (8th Grade), Saint Mary Interparochial School in Philadelphia;
  • Adam Svonavec (8th Grade), Saint Peter the Apostle School in Philadelphia; 
  • Lucia Jackominic (8th Grade), Saint Anthony of Padua Regional Catholic School in Philadelphia;
  • Porter Kline (8th Grade), Saint Aloysius Academy in Bryn Mawr (Delaware County);
  • Avery Williamson (7th Grade), Mater Dei Catholic School in Lansdale (Montgomery County);
  • Benjamin Bell (7th Grade), Our Lady of Mercy Regional School in Maple Glen (Montgomery County);
  • Emily Griffin (7th Grade), Saint Dorothy School in Drexel Hill (Delaware County);
  • Olivia Rydzik (7th Grade), Our Lady of Port Richmond School in Philadelphia;
  • Alec Testani (6th Grade), Saint Philip Neri School in Lafayette Hill (Montgomery County);
  • Victoria Bradley (6th Grade), Saint Mary Magdalen School in Media (Delaware County).
