Nutritional Development Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia Launches Annual “Manna Sunday” Food Drive

In 2020, Nutritional Development Services collected nearly 75,000 pounds of non-perishable items through this initiative to support those in need.

Nutritional Development Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s (NDS) Community Food Program is launching its annual “Manna Sunday” Food Drive.

The food drive, named after the edible substance which God provided for the Israelites in the desert, prepares NDS for the “desert” of the summer months when donations at its food pantries historically drop to low levels.

This effort is especially critical as individuals and households continue to face ongoing financial challenges, elevated levels of food insecurity, and other hardships stemming from the ongoing pandemic.

Those interested in supporting NDS’ Community Food Program and our neighbors in need can purchase healthy, non-perishable food items online through You Give Goods at https://yougivegoods.com/ndsmanna.

All goods donated online now through Wednesday, June 16th will be shipped directly to NDS and be distributed to its network of over 50 food cupboards and outreach programs located throughout the five-county metropolitan area.

In addition to its online effort, each year, NDS’ Community Food Program hosts the “Manna Sunday” Food Drive in conjunction with parishes and schools across the five-county area comprising the Archdiocese. Parish communities are encouraged to host a food drive on a date of their choosing in the summer.
