Nutritional Development Services Hosts Annual “Manna Sunday” Food Drive And Seeks To Collect 80,000 Pounds Of Food For Those In Need

Nutritional Development Services (NDS), an agency of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, is hosting its annual Manna Sunday food drive. This year, NDS is seeking to collect 80,000 pounds of non-perishable food items to benefit individuals and families throughout the five-county region facing hunger and food insecurity.

For over 45 years, NDS has hosted its Manna Sunday food drive. It is named after the edible substance God provided for the Israelites in the desert. It prepares NDS for the “desert” of the summer months when donations at its food pantries historically drop to low levels.

This hunger relief effort is especially critical as households face elevated levels of food insecurity due to sustained price increases in food and other essentials stemming from the pandemic and current global events.

Those interested in supporting NDS and our neighbors in need can purchase healthy, non-perishable items online through You Give Goods at https://yougivegoods.com/ndsmanna2022.

All goods donated online now through Tuesday, May 31st will benefit NDS’ network of 50 food cupboards throughout the Greater Philadelphia region including five food cupboards operated by Catholic Social Services; five soup kitchens; and numerous community outreach programs.

In addition to its online effort, NDS’ Community Food Program is also partnering with Archdiocesan parishes throughout the five-county region as part of this effort.

NDS accomplishes its mission in two distinct ways: by administering the federally-funded child nutrition programs and through the privately supported Community Food Program.
