Reverend Monsignor Arthur J. Nace, Retired, Resident, Saint Francis Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Darby, died on Saturday, August 13, 2016.
Monsignor Nace was born on October 16, 1927, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late William Nace and the late Madeleine O’Neill. Monsignor Nace attended Incarnation of Our Lord Parochial School, Philadelphia; Saint Joseph Preparatory School, Philadelphia; Saint Joseph College, Philadelphia, and Temple University, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Monsignor Nace was ordained on May 11, 1957, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend John F. O’Hara, C.S.C., and named Honorary Prelate to His Holiness Pope Paul VI, on February 18, 1969. Monsignor Nace served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Jerome Parish, Tamaqua. Monsignor Nace also serve on the faculty at Cardinal Dougherty High School, Philadelphia. Monsignor Nace served from 1961 through 1980 in the Office of the Controller as Assistant Controller and Controller. Monsignor Nace also served as Chaplain at Sacred Heart Hospital, Norristown, for eleven years.
A viewing will be held at Saint Dorothy Church, Drexel Hill, on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 6:00 PM, followed by a viewing.
A viewing will also be held Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Saint Dorothy Church, Drexel Hill, at 9:30 AM. Reverend Michael D. Murphy will be the celebrant and homilist for a Funeral Mass for Monsignor Nace at 11:00 AM.
Monsignor Nace is survived by his sisters: Madeleine Nace, Theresa M. Ryan and Patricia M. Campbell and numerous nephews and nieces. Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
