Today, Catholic Charities of Philadelphia (CCoP) announced the appointment of Ms. Ellen Mansfield as Director of Philanthropy. Ms. Mansfield’s appointment formally takes effect on August 25, 2025.
Her responsibilities include planning, developing, and implementing agency-wide strategies such as major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, corporate sponsorships, and grants to secure the long-term growth of CCoP’s overall mission of serving Philadelphia area neighbors with compassionate care and essential services. Ms. Mansfield will work to build and maintain relationships with donors and foster a culture of philanthropy, enabling CCoP to continue to adapt to the changing needs of the community.
In making this appointment, Secretary and Executive Vice President for CCoP Mrs. Heather Huot said, “We are thrilled to welcome Ellen to our team as our new Director of Philanthropy. Ellen’s expertise in team building and strategic philanthropic engagement is going to be an incredible asset to our mission at Catholic Charities of Philadelphia.”
In reaction to this appointment, Ms. Mansfield said, “I am grateful to be returning to serve the people in the Archdiocese. It is thrilling to combine my years of raising funds for disability organizations with my volunteer service in various youth, older adult, and basic needs communities.”
Background Regarding Ms. Ellen Mansfield
Ms. Ellen Mansfield is joining CCoP with more than 25 years of development, leadership, and institutional advancement experience.
Most recently, she has served as the Chief Development Officer at KenCrest in Blue Bell (Montgomery County). There, Ms. Mansfield created and executed fundraising and communications strategies; led development, implementation, and execution of grant funding strategies; managed cross-functional teams to implement major, mid-level, and planned giving programs; and conceived and launched a $6 million campaign.
Prior to her time at KenCrest, Ms. Mansfield served as Assistant Director of Annual Giving for Ursinus College (1999-2001); Assistant Director of Development for Pennsylvania College of Optometry (2001-2006); Director of Institutional Advancement for Cardinal Dougherty High School (2006-2008); Freelance Advancement Writer (2008-2009); Grant Writer/Researcher for The Center for Autism (2009-2013); and Annual Giving and Grants Manager/Director of Advancement for Melmark (2013-2020). She began her career as a Museum Educator at Graeme Park Historic Site in Horsham (Montgomery County).
Ms. Mansfield holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Ursinus College and a Master of Business Administration Degree from La Salle University.
Ms. Mansfield is currently a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in Plymouth Meeting (Montgomery County). In addition, Ms. Mansfield is an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and was formerly a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
