Mr. Theodore Blohm, Performing Arts Director at Archbishop Ryan High School (ARHS) in Northeast Philadelphia, was honored with The Manilow Music Teacher Award presented by The Manilow Music Project, a program of the Manilow Fund.
Mr. Blohm, ARHS Class of 2004, was invited to a recent Barry Manilow concert HITS 2022 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia and presented with the award during a special backstage meet and greet.
The Manilow Music Teacher Award recognizes an outstanding music teacher who helps to bring music to life for his or her students. Manilow Music Teacher Award recipients receive a $5,000 cash prize and a $5,000 Manilow Bucks credit that can be used to purchase instruments for their classroom.
Individuals who received the most votes were honored during Barry Manilow’s HITS 2022 concerts in the following cities: Allentown, PA; Boston, MA; Elmont, NY; Newark, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; and Providence, RI.
Background Information on Mr. Theodore Blohm
Mr. Theodore Blohm has been involved with Archbishop Ryan High School since 1993 when he joined the school’s Elementary Music Program. In 2006, Mr. Blohm returned to Archbishop Ryan to assist with the Marching Band, Elementary School Program, and Jazz Band. In 2018, he was hired full time as the Director of Performing Arts. In addition, Mr. Blohm is a full time music teacher educating everyone from curious students to experienced performers. After school, he oversees the Jazz Band, Orchestra, and Pep Band, and is the Girls’ Lacrosse Coach.
