In an effort to raise awareness about vocations to the Diocesan Priesthood and generate support for the those currently in formation, seminarians from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary are continuing the third annual event Biking for Vocations.
Over the course of five days (August 4 – 8), 10 seminarians will travel across the Archdiocese by bike to offer holy hours, prayer services, and discuss their vocational pathways at Archdiocesan parishes.
Biking for Vocations will kick off with an opening ceremony and blessing of the bikes by Bishop Timothy C. Senior, Rector of Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, on August 4th at 9:00 a.m. at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Wynnewood.
Following the welcoming ceremony, the seminarians will depart on separate routes (perimeter and interior) for their five-day pilgrimage.
While the routes will stop at different parishes along the way, both routes will converge at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul on the final day of the ride. Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez will greet the seminarians in the parking lot next to the Cathedral Basilica.

Bishop John McIntyre, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, will be biking with the interior route and will join the seminarians at Epiphany of Our Lord Parish at 7:00 p.m. for Evening Prayer and a panel discussion.

Founded in 1832, Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary has been forming men for priestly service in the Catholic Church for more than 180 years. Last fall, the 2020-2021 year of formation began with 156 enrolled seminarians; 74 are preparing to become priests of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, 82 are preparing for the priesthood in nineteen partner dioceses and religious congregations.
