 ARCHDIOCESE OF PHILADELPHIA SPONSORS
PILGRIMAGE OPPORTUNITIES FOR

THE WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES—DUBLIN 2018

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia was the host for the previous World Meeting of Families and a Visit from Pope Francis in September 2015

The Archdiocese of Philadelphia served as the host for the 8th World Meeting of Families, along with a two-day visit from Pope Francis in late September of 2015. In Philadelphia, the World Meeting of Families Congress drew more than 20,000 delegates from over 100 countries and the public events with Pope Francis were attended by well over 1,000,000 people.

At the conclusion of the World Meeting of Families—Philadelphia 2015, it was announced by the Holy Father that the Archdiocese of Dublin, Ireland, would host the 9th World Meeting of Families in 2018.

Today the Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced that is sponsoring pilgrimage opportunities for those wishing to participate in the Dublin gathering. The pilgrimage is being led by Reverend G. Dennis Gill, Director of the Office for Divine Worship and Rector of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Highlights of the offerings include attendance at the World Meeting of Families Congress and Mass celebrated by Pope Francis as well as tours to the Rock of Cashel; a trip to Galway to see the Cliffs of Moher; a visit to the Guinness Brewery; a tour of Bram Stoker’s house; a stop at the Our Lady of Knock shrine; a tour of Belfast; and a visit to the Saint Patrick Centre to discover the story of the patron saint of Ireland.
