REVEREND JAMES E. MCVEIGH

Reverend James E. McVeigh, Retired, Resident, Regina Coeli Residence for Priests, Warminster, died at University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia, on Tuesday, August 8, 2017.
Father McVeigh was born on January 11, 1947, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late James H. McVeigh and the late Helen G. McCoy. Father McVeigh attended Corpus Christi Parochial School, Philadelphia, and Cardinal Dougherty Catholic High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Father McVeigh was ordained on May 19, 1973, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by His Eminence John Cardinal Krol. Father McVeigh served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Matthew Parish, Conshohocken; Saint Maria Goretti Parish, Hatfield; Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, Glenside; Saint Joseph the Worker Parish, Fallsington; Saint David Parish, Willow Grove; Saint Barnabas Parish, Philadelphia; and Saint Andrew Parish, Drexel Hill. He was appointed Pastor of Saint Joseph Parish, Collingdale, in 2000. He retired from active ministry in February 2010.
The Reception of the Body will be held on Saturday, August, 12, 2017 , at 9:00 AM, at Our Lady of Hope Church, Philadelphia, followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Joseph F. Martino will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father McVeigh at 11:00AM. Among those Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Most Reverend Edward M. Deliman, Reverend William A. Trader, O.Praem, and Reverend Joseph T. Shenosky. Father Shenosky will be the homilist. Father McVeigh is survived by his sisters, Kathy R. Casey, Mary A. McVeigh, and his brother Joseph G. McVeigh and many nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, and Garden Mausoleum, Philadelphia.
