Reverend Richard J. McAndrews, Pastor Emeritus, Epiphany of Our Lord Parish, Plymouth
Meeting, died on Thursday, November 18, 2021.
Father McAndrews was born on March 12, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Richard J. McAndrews and Elizabeth M. Lauer. Father McAndrews attended Good Shepherd Parochial School, Philadelphia and West Catholic High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Father McAndrews was ordained on May 20, 1967, at The Cathedral Basilica of SS. Peter and Paul, Philadelphia by Most Reverend John J. Krol, D.D., J.C.D. Father McAndrews served as Parochial Vicar, Epiphany of Our Lord Parish, Plymouth Meeting; Saints Peter and Paul Parish, West Chester; Saint Monica Parish, Philadelphia; Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, Darby. He was on the Faculty at Cardinal Dougherty High School. He also served as Assistant to the Secretary for Clergy. In 1995 he was appointed Pastor, Nativity B.V.M. Parish, Philadelphia, and in 2002 he was appointed Pastor, Epiphany of Our Lord Parish, Plymouth Meeting and named Pastor Emeritus, in 2009. He also served as Senior Priest at Corpus Christi Parish, Lansdale and Saint Isidore Parish, Quakertown. He retired from active ministry in June 2016.
The Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Francis of Assis Church, Springfield on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 8:45 AM, followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Edward M. Deliman. will celebrate the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend H. James Hutchins, Reverend Frederick J. Riegler, Reverend Leonard N. Peterson, and Reverend Monsignor John J. Jagodzinski will be the homilist.
Father McAndrews is survived by his brothers Martin, Joseph (Dorothea), Edward (Grace), George, James, John (Antoinette), Robert (Anne), and Patrick. Sister, Elizabeth (Denis), Glavin, and cousins, nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Springfield.
