Retired Deacon John Kreczkevich, died on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.

Deacon Kreczkevich was ordained on June 9, 2002, by His Eminence Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. He was assigned to Saint Barnabas Parish, Philadelphia, where he remained until his retirement on June 17, 2019.

Deacon Kreczkevich was employed as the maintenance director/care-taker at Saint Barnabas Parish for over 25 years. He retired from this position on May 30, 2007.

Deacon Kreczkevich was married to his wife Susan (nee McBride) since May 28, 1966. In addition to his wife, he is survived by an adult son, Alexander.

Reception of the body and a viewing will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023, beginning at 9:30 AM, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, at Saint Barnabas Church, 6300 Buist Avenue, Philadelphia. Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald will be the principal celebrant. The homilist will be Reverend John F. Babowitch. Concelebrants will be Reverend Miguel Angel Bravo Alvarez, and Reverend John F. Babowitch.  Interment will be at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
