The Cross and the Light presents the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus using Broadway-caliber video arts, acting, music, and singing. Environmental Projection technology is used to project incredible video imagery onto the walls of the church.
The musical first opened in Detroit’s Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in 2011. Upon consecutive 3-week runs with multiple sold out shows and a total attendance of over 22,000 in 2011 and 2012, The Cross and the Light opened at Detroit’s famed Music Hall in 2013, where it was met with unexpected praise from secular reviewers and eventually nominated for a coveted Wilde award.
“This particular play is so effective certainly because of its Hollywood-level quality of special effects, singing, and acting,” says Meghan Cokeley, Director of the Office for the New Evangelization for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, “But above all, because Jesus Christ is the center and heart of this event. The show promises to be a strong catalyst for conversion.”
