#iGiveCatholic Giving Day Raises Over $1M On #GivingTuesday

Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s inaugural #iGiveCatholic initiative exceeds $1M for over 100 organizations.

The Catholic Foundation of Greater Philadelphia (CFGP) partnered with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to participate in #iGiveCatholic for the first time. Held on #GivingTuesday, December 1st, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia raised over $1M for 101 Catholic organizations across the region, including parishes, schools and nonprofit ministries. Additionally, the Catholic Charities Appeal of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and the St. Charles Borromeo Seminary Appeal, placed first and second respectively for most dollars raised nationally.

“Some weeks ago, I asked you to proclaim ‘I Give Catholic’ and support the school, parish or charitable ministry of your choice through this initiative,” said Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez, Archbishop of Philadelphia. “You answered with overwhelming generosity and donated over $1,000,000 in support of more than 100 beneficiaries. So, thank you; thank you; thank you for making iGiveCatholic a success and for supporting the many critical missions carried out by our local Church each day.”

Archbishop Pérez released a special video message to thank everyone who supported #iGiveCatholic. To view the video via Facebook, please click the link below.

For 2020, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia joined CFGP in promoting this special, faith-based giving day for the first time. #iGiveCatholic is celebrated by more than 40 arch/dioceses across the country.

“We are so grateful to the faithful of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia for their generosity and support of this important initiative,” said Sarah O. Hanley, President and Chief Executive Officer of CFGP.

This year, #iGiveCatholic raised a grand total of $12.6M nationally with support from over 48,000 donors. #iGiveCatholic celebrates Catholic heritage, encourages philanthropy, and inspires faithful stewards to “Give Catholic” on #GivingTuesday, the global day of philanthropy.
