Holy Family Catholic School in Phoenixville (Chester County) was selected as part of the 2024 cohort of National Blue Ribbon Schools in an announcement made by Miguel Cardona, Ed.D., Secretary of the United States Department of Education, on September 23, 2024.
Holy Family is one of only 356 total schools and among just 40 private schools selected nationally for this distinction. Schools were chosen for this honor based on exemplary high performance. Holy Family Catholic School received this recognition previously in 2016.
Andrew McLaughlin, Ed.D, Secretary for Elementary Education for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia said, “On behalf of my colleagues in the Office of Catholic Education, I offer prayerful congratulations to the Holy Family School community for being recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School. This tremendous accomplishment is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the faculty, students, and school families.” He continued, “As proud institutions of Catholic Education our focus is on the holistic development of our students and equipping them to become servant leaders with the zealous heart of a Missionary Disciple.”
In addition to this honor, Holy Family Catholic School has also been recognized by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Office of Catholic Education (OCE) as an Archdiocesan School of Distinguished Instruction in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. This year, they were among 71 parish and regional elementary schools to receive that honor from OCE.
With the addition of the 2024 cohort, Blue Ribbon status has been awarded 52 times to parish and regional elementary schools in the five-county Archdiocese since the program’s inception in 1982. Saint Genevieve Catholic School in Flourtown (Montgomery County) has received this honor more times than any other school in the Archdiocese (2000, 2006, and 2016).
The United States Department of Education will hold a recognition ceremony for this year’s Blue Ribbon Schools on Thursday, November 7 and Friday, November 8, 2024 in Washington, D.C.
