Retired Deacon Robert P. Gellentien died on May 22, 2024, at the age of 93. Deacon Gellentien was ordained in the Diocese of Metuchen on May 23, 1982. He transferred to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in September 2000, and assigned to Saint John the Evangelist Parish, Morrisville. He was officially incardinated into the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on October 14, 2004. He remained at Saint John the Evangelist Parish until his retirement on November 10, 2006.
Deacon Gellentien served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was educated at Rutgers University, and he was employed by AT&T at the time of his retirement. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Jeanne Gellentien. He is also survived by his sons Paul and James, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons, Mark, and John.
Reception of his body and viewing will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at Saint John the Evangelist Church, 752 Big Oak Road, Morrisville. The principal celebrant and homilist will be Reverend Monsignor Joseph G. Prior. Interment will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at a later date.
