First Annual African Heritage Mass Highlights African Culture in Song and Prayer

Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s Office for Pastoral Care for Migrants and Refugees is sponsoring the first annual African Heritage Mass commemorating the rich heritage and diversity of the African Catholic community of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

Father Livinus Ugochukwu will be the celebrant.

The Mass will be multi-lingual and multicultural, representing the linguistic and cultural diversity of Africa. Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Congo, and Ivory Coast are some of the African communities that will be represented at the Mass. The Mass will include four African choirs.

Participants are encouraged to wear traditional attire of their countries of origin.
