Father Judge High School to Host “Signing Day” to Celebrate First Cohort of Students Completing its Innovative Welding Program

Father Judge High School (FJHS) in Northeast Philadelphia will host a “signing day” to celebrate the first cohort of students completing its innovative the welding program.

Thirty-three members of the class of 2022 will be present and sign offers to join their future employers including DC Fabricators; Holtec International; L-3 Harris; PTR Baler & Compactor; SEA BOX; and SEPTA. The school will highlight each student’s success in the program and recognize their accomplishments spanning three years of welding instruction.

The Welding program, launched in the 2019-2020 school year, it is the first-of-its-kind among Archdiocesan high schools, and will play a vital role in launching a Career & Technical Education (CTE) initiative.  The Ambassador’s Fund for Catholic Education and the Connelly Foundation provided grant funding for the school’s Welding Lab. FJHS intends to implement additional course offerings in CTE over the next five years as part of its strategic plan, including: Biotech, Business, Construction Trades, Culinary, Engineering and Entrepreneurship.
