Reverend Monsignor Paul F. Curran, Pastor Emeritus, Saint Albert the Great Parish, Huntingdon Valley, died on Monday, April 19, 2021.
Monsignor Curran was born on January 19, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Nelson J. Curran and Marie J. McGeever. Monsignor Curran attended Saint Francis deSales Parochial School, Philadelphia and Saint Joseph’s Preparatory High School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Monsignor Curran was ordained on May 11, 1957, at Church of the Immaculate Conception, Germantown by Most Reverend John F. O’Hara, D.D. He was named Honorary Prelate of His Holiness John Paul VI on January 18, 1976. Monsignor Curran served as Parochial Vicar, Saint Ann Parish, Lansford. He was on the Faculty at Cardinal Dougherty High School, and served as a Student Priest at Catholic University of America, in Washington, DC. Monsignor Curran also served as Assistant Superintendent of Schools as well as Vicar for Catholic Education. In 1987 he was appointed Pastor, Saint Albert the Great Parish, Huntingdon Valley, and named Pastor Emeritus in 2006.
Reception of the Body will be held at Saint Albert the Great Church, Huntingdon Valley, on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 9:00 A.M. followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Nelson J. Pérez will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Monsignor Curran at 11:00A.M. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Monsignor James Tracy, Diocese of Camden, Reverend Quy Pham, Reverend H. James Hutchins, Reverend John J. Kelly, Reverend John D. Gabin, Reverend Richard J. Antonucci, O.Praem, and Monsignor Joseph P. Duncan will be the homilist.
Monsignor Curran is survived by his brothers, John (Rosemary), Vincent (MaryDenise),and sister Marie McHale, and many nephews and nieces. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken.
