REVEREND EDWARD B. CAHILL

Reverend Edward B. Cahill, Pastor Emeritus, Holy Cross Parish, Springfield, died at Saint Mary Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare, Lansdale, on Sunday, July 17, 2016.
Father Cahill was born on May 21, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late John F. Cahill and the late Mary E. King. Father Cahill attended Saint John the Baptist School, Philadelphia, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary.
Father Cahill was ordained on May 14, 1960, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by Most Reverend J. Carroll McCormick. Father Cahill served as Parochial Vicar, Annunciation Parish, Shenandoah. Father Cahill also served on the Faculty, Roman Catholic High School for Boys, Philadelphia, and Bishop McDevitt High School, Wyncote. He served as Principal at Archbishop Kennedy High School and Roman Catholic High School for Boys. Father Cahill served as Pastor at Immaculate Conception Parish, Philadelphia, Visitation B.V.M. Parish, Philadelphia, and Holy Cross Parish, Springfield. In June 2004, he was named Pastor Emeritus, Holy Cross Parish, Springfield. He also served as Chaplain at Saint Mary’s Manor from 2004 until 2008.
The Reception of the Body will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016, at 9:00 AM. at Saint Francis Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare, Darby, followed by a viewing. Most Reverend Michael J. Fitzgerald will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Father Cahill at 11:00AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend John F. Babowitch and Reverend Monsignor William A. Dombrow. Bishop Fitzgerald will be the homilist.
Father Cahill is survived by his nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken.
