Catholic Social Services to Celebrate National Recovery Month with Fifth Annual Mercy Hospice Recovery Walk

September is National Recovery Month.

Mercy Hospice, a ministry of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CSS), is celebrating National Recovery Month by hosting its Fifth Annual Mercy Hospice Recovery Walk. This year’s theme is “Five Years Walking in Recovery.”

The initiative supports those currently in recovery and prayerfully remembers loved ones who lost their lives as a result of addiction.

Wednesday, September 11, 2024
3:00 p.m.
Mercy Hospice
334 South 13th Street
Philadelphia, PA 19107

Current and former Mercy Hospice residents along with CSS staff, supporters, and residents from other CSS housing programs will be joined by Most Reverend John J. McIntyre, the Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia who oversees the Secretariat for Catholic Human Services as part of his administrative and pastoral responsibilities.

The outdoor event will begin with prayer followed by a walk through Philadelphia’s Washington Square West neighborhood. The program will conclude with a light dinner at Mercy Hospice.

CSS is committed to restoring and strengthening families and promoting the integral health and well-being of those who struggle with substance use disorders as well as their families and loved ones. Mercy Hospice, part of the Housing and Homeless Services Division of CSS, is a residential program in Philadelphia offering stability and hope to single women and mothers with children experiencing homelessness and in recovery from substance use.

Those interested in participating in the Mercy Hospice Recovery Walk are asked to contact Ms. Amy Stoner, Director of CSS’ Community-Based and Housing and Homeless Services Divisions, at [email protected].
