September is National Recovery Month.
Mercy Hospice, a ministry of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CSS), is celebrating National Recovery Month by hosting its third annual recovery walk. The walk is in support of those in recovery from substance abuse addictions and in remembrance of those loved and lost to addiction.
Mercy Hospice, part of the Housing and Homeless Services Division of CSS, is a residential program in Philadelphia offering stability and hope to single women and mothers with children experiencing homelessness and in recovery from substance abuse.

Current and former residents along with CSS staff, supporters, and residents from other CSS housing programs will be joined by Father Douglas McKay, founder and chaplain of Our House Ministries, for this prayerful initiative. Our House Ministries, provides recovery homes and faith-based sobriety programs in Philadelphia.
The event will begin with a prayer followed by a walk through Philadelphia’s Washington Square West neighborhood. The walk will conclude at CSS’s Women of Hope located on Lombard Street.
Mercy Hospice services include life skills programs, case management services, recovery support groups, parenting education, recreational and enrichment programs, and child care in a safe and loving environment. A day program for non-residents is also available offering clients a safe, reliable place for lunch, showers, clothing, feminine hygiene and personal care products, and access to case management services.
