Catholic Human Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. David Shellenberger, RN, BSN, as the new President of Saint John Vianney Center (SJVC). His appointment took effect on March 28, 2016. Mr. Shellenberger holds a license as a Registered Nurse and received his bachelor’s degree in Nursing from York College of Pennsylvania and succeeds Reverend James A. Flavin in this role.

Bishop John J. McIntyre, the Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia who oversees Catholic Human Services, said, “David Shellenberger brings to this position a broad experience and many years of commitment to the mission of Saint John Vianney Center. I ask all to join me in extending prayerful best wishes as he embraces his new role.”

Mr. Shellenberger has served as Chief Operating Officer at SJVC since 2014 and has worked at the center since 2008. Previously, he was the Chief Nursing Officer responsible for all clinical practice and medical care performed by the nursing department. As President, he will work to increase awareness of SJVC’s prevention and educational services, as well as its assessment and behavioral health treatment programs.

Father Flavin, former President of SJVC, now acts as President Emeritus and will provide consultative services on an as needed basis. “I am so happy that David Shellenberger has been chosen as President of SJVC.  His love for the Church and his compassionate professional skills make him the perfect choice to continue this great ministry. I look forward to collaborating with David as we begin SJVC’s 70th year of serving the Clergy and Religious,” said Father Flavin.
