Catholic Housing and Community Services Hosts Application Day for Saint Rita Place, an Affordable Housing Community for Independent Seniors in South Philadelphia

Saint Rita Place is the fifth of its nature opened by Catholic Housing and Community Services.

Catholic Housing and Community Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CHCS) is hosting an application day for Saint Rita Place, its newest affordable housing community for independent seniors in South Philadelphia. The residence is expected to open in the fall of 2021.

To date, CHCS has received over 200 phone call inquiries regarding Saint Rita Place and expects a large turnout for this event.

Saint Rita Place, located at South Broad and Ellsworth Streets next to the National Shrine of Saint Rita of Cascia, will consist of 46 one-bedroom apartments for income eligible seniors on the second through fifth floors. Features of the building include a community multi-purpose room, food cupboard, laundry facilities and exercise room, resident lounge with access to outdoor terrace space, Wi-Fi accessibility, and on-site social services to assist residents with aging in place.

Prospective residents are encouraged to drop off completed applications on May 24th for best chance at residency. Applicants will be assigned a number in the order applications are submitted. After May 24th, a dedicated P.O. Box will be established where applications can be mailed.

To be eligible for Saint Rita Place, all applicants must be 62 years of age or older on the day of application; have an income of $39,720 or less for a household of one or an income of $45,360 or less for a household of two; and pass a background check, credit check, and a landlord reference check.
