Catholic Health Care Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CHCS) is proud to announce that it will work with The National Shrine of Saint Rita of Cascia (NSSRC) to build the Cascia Center on the corner of Broad and Ellsworth Streets in South Philadelphia.

The ground floor will house the Cascia Center for the National Shrine of Saint Rita, which will host to various activities for the spiritual enrichment of visitors to the National Shrine, as well as hospitality services, administrative offices, and meeting rooms. The upper floors will contain affordable apartments for age and income eligible seniors allowing them to age in place with dignity. Low Income Housing Tax Credits will be pursued as part of this effort.

“This collaboration brings together two organizations committed to the work of our Church,” said John M. Wagner, Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Health Care Services. “We are grateful for this opportunity and know that both the Cascia Center and senior housing will promote dignity and bring peace to those who pass through its doors.”

Cecil Baker Partners has been selected as the lead architect for the design of the building, which is currently being planned. 

NSSRC serves as a spiritual, educational, social and cultural center within the South Philadelphia community.

CHCS provides support and services to older adults within the Archdiocese.  These services include in-home support, parish-based support programs, geriatric care management, adult day care and senior housing communities.
